On February 28, 2024, a conference was held at the Institute of International Relations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan on the results of the meeting of the Presidium of the Halk Maslahaty.
Representatives and executives of public organizations of the country, teaching staff and students of higher educational institutions of Turkmenistan, also attended the event, organized by the Turkmen MFA.
At the conference, the issues related to the successful implementation of the priority tasks identified in the Program of socio-economic development of Turkmenistan and investments in 2024 were discussed. As well as the Plan of the Work and Activities were considered in the main areas of activities of the Halk Maslahaty, scheduled for implementation this year, together with the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, ministries, state agencies and public organizations in order to fulfill this program.
Speaking at the conference, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan R.Meredov emphasized that, due to the efforts of country's leadership, the economy of Turkmenistan is developing at an accelerated pace, the quality of life of the population is improving. Moreover, the authority of the state and its place in the system of international relations is constantly growing.
Attention was also drawn to the foreign policy initiatives of the President of Turkmenistan put forward at the 78th session of the UN General Assembly, in which, a significant role is given to the initiative to develop a Global Security Strategy.
The implementation of the current directions of the country’s foreign policy was accentuated in the fields of energy, transport, ecology, information security and digitalization.
The participants of the conference emphasized that the main goal of the new strategy adopted by the President of Turkmenistan, is to maintain the economic growth of the country. In this regard, the most important indicator of the intensive development is a stable political position, making management decisions aimed at accomplishing all the selected goals.
After the main meeting, the conference continued its work in two areas, dedicated to the issues of ensuring gender equality in the country, as well as the implementation of youth policy.
In course of those sections, special attention was paid to the tasks set by the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty within the framework of the meeting of the Presidium of the Halk Maslahaty to strengthen created conditions for the protection of the legitimate interests of women, as well as the protection and unity of the family and interests of younger generation.
