On April 17, 2024, a meeting was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and the Secretary General of the Permanent Secretariat of the Intergovernmental Commission TRACECA Asset Assavbayev.
During the meeting, parties discussed the current state of cooperation and prospects for interaction within the framework of the TRACECA Intergovernmental Commission.
The active role of Turkmenistan in establishing and expanding the transport and transit potential of the region was noted. In this context, it was emphasized that the Turkmen side is ready to continue the joint implementation of relevant TRACECA documents, aimed at expanding the investment opportunities of transport and transit corridors.
During the meeting, the fact of accession of Turkmenistan on November 14, 2023 to the Basic Multilateral Agreement on International Transport for the development of the Europe-Caucasus-Asia corridor, aimed at developing economic relations, trade and transport links in the regions of Europe, the Caucasus and Asia, the Black and Caspian Seas, were stated.
The parties expressed interest in continuing joint events and specialized meetings with the participation of representatives of the transport sector of Turkmenistan.
