On August 29, 2016 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan there was a meeting with the delegation of the United Nations Entity for Gender Equality (UN Women) led by the Regional Director of the structure in Europe and Central Asia, Ms. Ingibjorg Solrun Gisladottir.
During the meeting the sides discussed the current state of cooperation and noted the commitment of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the multi-branch "UN Women" in Central Asia in the empowerment of women throughout the world, more efficient use of available resources to promote gender equality.
Speaking about the election of Turkmenistan to the Executive Council of the structure "UN Women" for the years 2016-2018, the sides discussed issues of joint action in accordance with the "National Action Plan of Turkmenistan on gender equality in the 2015-2020 years."
