On May 21, 2024, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan with the Secretary General of the CIS Sergei Lebedev, who arrived in the Turkmen capital to discuss preparations for the upcoming high-level meeting within the CIS.
Thus, during the meeting, the parties considered organizational issues related to the holding of the Council of Heads of Government of the CIS member states on May 24, 2024 in Ashgabat.
Continuing the conversation, it was stated that there were ample opportunities for effective interaction within the CIS. In particular, the parties checked the schedule of joint events and reviewed the agenda of summit and high-level meetings to be held this year under the auspices of the CIS.
S.Lebedev noted that the active participation of Turkmenistan in the CIS is important for strengthening ties between the participating states and emphasized that the development of mutually beneficial relations with Turkmenistan remains one of the priorities of the Commonwealth.
