On October 4, 2024, a meeting was held in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan between the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Myahri Byashimova and the delegation of the European Commission headed by Dietmar Krissler, Head of the Division for Central Asia in the European External Action Service.
During the meeting, a wide range of issues on further development of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the EU were discussed. The sides also considered issues of collabroation in the format “Central Asia - European Union”. The parties noted the effectiveness of the EU projects implemented by Turkmenistan in key areas.
Cooperation on regional security and development, climate issues, environmental protection, “green” and digital transformation, cooperation on energy, transport and logistics sectors were identified as priority areas.
Referring to the establishment of new transport corridors, the interlocutors emphasized that the launch of the Trans-Caspian Transport Crossings Coordination Platform would contribute to the sustainable economic and social development of the region.
