On October 21, 2024, in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan held a regular meeting of the working group on the development of the Country Framework Program of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) for Turkmenistan for 2024-2029. Emine Alic, Programme Management Officer Division for Europe Department of Technical Cooperation of the IAEA, also took part in the meeting via digital video link.
During the meeting, the parties exchanged views on key aspects of Turkmenistan’s interaction with the IAEA. Special attention was paid to the peaceful use of atomic energy in such areas as medicine, agriculture, environmental protection and water management.
Cooperation in the field of medicine, in particular the fight against oncological diseases, was identified as one of the most important areas. In this regard, the IAEA ImPACT program for monitoring joint actions, which is being implemented in Turkmenistan, was noted.
