On November 13, 2017, the political consultations with the delegation of Malaysia headed by the Deputy Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Malaysia for Bilateral affairs, Raja Nushirvan bin Zainal Abidin, held in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan.
During the talks, the sides exchanged views on the current state and prospects of bilateral cooperation between Turkmenistan and Malaysia. Within the framework of the meeting, the parties discussed regional issues, cooperation within the framework of international organizations, as well as issues of mutual interest.
The sides noted the ongoing work of the Foreign Ministries in establishing cooperation in strengthening the relations and welfare of the peoples of the two countries and agreed to hold political consultations on an integrated basis.
The sides also discussed the expansion of cooperation between the two countries in the cultural and humanitarian sphere, in particular, the issues of the Days of Culture of Malaysia in Turkmenistan, as well as the deepening of cooperation in the field of tourism.
The need to intensify the activities to establish an intergovernmental Turkmen-Malaysian commission for trade, economic and scientific and technical cooperation, to ensure a permanent dialogue between business circles and state companies, the creation of a working council and the opening of the House of Trade was stressed.
The sides stressed the importance of holding regular political consultations and noted that due to mutual efforts, Turkmen-Malaysian relations are aimed at a consistent and dynamic development and access to new forms of cooperation in various directions.
