On 7 November 2024, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held a meeting via videoconferencing with US Assistant Secretary of State for Energy Resources Geoffrey Pyatt.
During the meeting, the sides underlined the constructive nature of relations between the countries, especially in such spheres as trade and economy, energy, transport, logistics and others.
The US side highly appraised the progress made by Turkmenistan in fulfilling its international commitments on climate change since the country joined the Global Methane Pledge. Geoffrey Pyatt also noted Turkmenistan’s successful cooperation with American companies «Tetrotech» and «Deloitte» in the implementation of climate initiatives and projects.
In addition, the sides discussed key issues on the agenda of the 29th Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (COP 29) to be held in Baku.
At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed on further development of cooperation on countering climate change and in other areas of mutual interest.
