On 28 November 2024, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met with Deputy Director-General, Regional Representative for Europe and Central Asia of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Viorel Gutu.
During the meeting, key aspects of Turkmenistan’s interaction with FAO were discussed. The parties also exchanged views on the development and implementation of joint projects and programs.
The importance of the Second Conference on Food Security in the Context of Climate Change, which was held today, was recognized as an open platform for discussing regional and global cooperation in such important area as food security. In this context, it was noted that climate change is altering traditional agricultural practices, which requires immediate action.
In addition, the parties expressed their willingness to intensify actions to open FAO office in Turkmenistan.
