On December 10, 2024, the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov received the Executive Director of the Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate of the UN Security Council Natalia Gherman.
Expressing gratitude for the time devoted to the meeting, the representative of the largest international organization congratulated the Head of State on the International Day of Neutrality, addressing wishes of happiness, prosperity and new successes on the chosen path of sovereign development to all Turkmen citizens. Natalia Gherman also expressed gratitude for the award presented to her - a medal on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of the birth of the great Turkmen poet and thinker of the East Makhtumkuli Fragi.
Taking this opportunity, the guest conveyed warm words of greeting to the National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
As noted, the concept and principles of neutrality, successfully promoted under the leadership of Hero-Arkadag Gurbanguly Burdimuhamedov, have proven themselves to be a fundamental element of both the domestic and foreign policies of Turkmenistan, a state that today plays an important role in ensuring stability, security and prosperity in the Central Asian region.
Having thanked for the kind words, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov addressed his best wishes in return to UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, expressing confidence that Natalia Gherman's current visit will be an important factor in strengthening Turkmenistan's cooperation with the United Nations.
As emphasized, the development of a multifaceted partnership with the UN is one of the key vectors of our country's foreign policy. Turkmenistan, having the status of permanent neutrality, officially recognized in the framework of two Resolutions of the United Nations General Assembly, plays an important role in international politics, consistently upholding the principles of peace, security and independence.
Continuing his speech, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov emphasized the special importance attached to the development of relations with the Counter-Terrorism Committee Executive Directorate of the UN Security Council.
As noted during the conversation, Turkmenistan, based on its commitment to the principles of sustainable peace and international security, is actively involved in efforts aimed at countering the threats of terrorism at the global level.
Expressing confidence that effective interaction with this UN body is key to developing comprehensive and timely measures to strengthen international security, the Head of State emphasized that Turkmenistan will continue to support initiatives aimed at increasing the level of cooperation, exchange of information and experience in the field of combating terrorism, as well as strengthening legal and institutional mechanisms for the protection of peace and stability.
Thanking for the established productive partnership between Turkmenistan and the UN, which has been constructively developing over many years, Natalya Gherman emphasized the readiness to continue to make joint efforts to ensure lasting peace on the planet.
