According to the Resolution of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov, the National Action Plan to Combat Human Trafficking for 2025–2029 is approved in Turkmenistan.
Turkmenistan considers human trafficking as one of the most serious and pressing global problems. The country aims to continue effectively taking part in the international efforts to counter human trafficking, as well as to protect and promote human rights.
The National Action Plan of Turkmenistan to Combat Human Trafficking for 2025–2029 was prepared by the Interdepartmental Commission of Turkmenistan on Combating Human Trafficking jointly with the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC). The plan is preventive in itself, contains comprehensive guidelines and prescribes close cooperation with international structures.
It is important to note that Turkmenistan actively cooperates with international organizations in the humanitarian vector, in particular, in the comprehensive protection of human rights and resistance of modern challenges in this area. In this context, the state has developed a strong legislative framework to combat human trafficking, which creates a reliable legal basis for systematic activity.
The country has consistently implemented National Action Plans to Combat Human Trafficking for 2016 – 2018 and 2020 – 2022. The Law of Turkmenistan «On Combating Human Trafficking» defines the organizational and legal basis for combating human trafficking and regulates public relations in this area.
The National Action Plan of Turkmenistan to Combat Human Trafficking for 2025–2029 consists of five sections, which outline target measures, deadlines for their implementation, relevant indicators, and government agencies responsible for implementing the designated tasks.
In addition, the Plan provides for the development of cooperation with reputable international organizations and foreign countries in this area.
Turkmenistan intends to continue coordinated cooperation with the international community in combating and preventing human trafficking.
