Press conference dedicated to the results of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the European Union in 2024 and prospects for joint activities in 2025

On January 24, 2025, a press conference was held at the MFA of Turkmenistan dedicated to the results of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the European Union in 2024 and prospects for joint activities in 2025.

The meeting was attended by representatives of ministries and sectoral agencies of Turkmenistan, the EU Delegation in Turkmenistan and EU projects, foreign and domestic media.

During her speech, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan M.Byashimova emphasized that Turkmenistan attaches great importance to political-diplomatic, trade-economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation with the EU.

It was noted that regular meetings and negotiations at the highest level contribute to the expansion and strengthening of comprehensive cooperation in a wide range of areas.

In continuation of the event, the positive development of the multifaceted cooperation between Turkmenistan and the EU, which has become progressive and substantive over the last three decades, was noted.

It was stressed that the interaction with the EU is deepening within the framework of the existing special projects and programmes, in particular, the Joint Committee «European Union – Turkmenistan», the inter-parliamentary dialogue, the Human Rights Dialogue, consultative meetings between the foreign ministries.

The «Central Asia – European Union» cooperation format was highlighted as one of the important mechanisms for expanding the partnership, within the framework of which programmes and projects aimed at strengthening trade and economic ties, partnership in transport, digitalization, ecology and energy, as well as cultural and humanitarian spheres, including education and healthcare, are being successfully implemented.

In addition, the importance of the Joint Roadmap for Deepening Ties between the Central Asia and EU, which covers key areas including inter-regional political dialogue and cooperation, expanding trade and economic ties, energy, climate-neutral economy and addressing common security challenges, was noted.

The participants of the press conference exchanged views on the successes achieved and prospects for further cooperation.
