President of Turkmenistan received the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan

On March 27, 2025, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov received Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sirojiddin Muhriddin, who arrived to Turkmenistan to participate in the successive Meeting of Foreign Ministers of the Central Asian states and the European Union.

Expressing sincere gratitude to the Head of State for his time and cordial reception, the guest conveyed cordial greetings and best wishes from President Emomali Rahmon to the President of Turkmenistan and Hero-Arkadag. Taking the opportunity, the Foreign Minister of Tajikistan congratulated the Head of State on the International Novruz Day and noted that Tajikistan is interested in building partnership with Turkmenistan, united by common centuries old historical and cultural roots.

Welcoming the Foreign Minister of the friendly state on the ancient and hospitable Turkmen land, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov addressed his best wishes to the leader of the brotherly country. Special emphasis was placed on the fact that the results of the current visit of the Foreign Minister of Tajikistan to Turkmenistan and his participation in the 20th ministerial meeting of representatives of the European Union and Central Asian countries devoted to the preparations for the first Central Asia-European Union Summit will contribute to the strengthening of interstate relations.

During the exchange of views on the current state and prospects of partnership between the two countries, the Head of State and Sirojiddin Muhriddin noted with satisfaction that today the friendly and good-neighborly relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Tajikistan are of a long-term and strategic nature.

At present, two countries cooperate not only in the bilateral format, but also within the framework of reputable regional and international organizations such as the UN, OIC, CIS, SCO and ECO. At the same time, it was noted that a significant factor in the development of partnership is the trusting relations established between the leaders of two states, as well as the results of the meetings and talks at the highest level, which have acquired a regular character.

During the meeting, the diplomat emphasized the importance of the international legal status of permanent neutrality, the 30th anniversary of which is marked this year. Congratulating President Serdar Berdimuhamedov on the adoption of the third Resolution on permanent neutrality of Turkmenistan by the UN General Assembly, the Foreign Minister of the brotherly country reaffirmed the readiness of Tajikistan, a co-sponsor of these resolutions, to participate in the international events scheduled to be held this year on the occasion of the remarkable date, as well as to continue supporting the constructive initiatives of the Turkmen state.

One of the topics of discussion was trade and economic relations. In this regard, it was mentioned that there are great opportunities, especially in terms of the implementation of major projects in trade, fuel and energy complex, transportation and communication sector.

Among the important areas of interstate interaction is the cultural and humanitarian sphere, where partnership in education, healthcare, science and culture occupies a special place. In this context, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov noted that the opening of the Magtymguly secondary school in Dusti district of Khatlon region of the Republic of Tajikistan is a symbol of friendship and brotherhood of our peoples. At the same time, the significance of the visit of President Emomali Rahmon to Turkmenistan to participate in the International Forum dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of Magtymguly Fraghi was emphasized.

In the end of the meeting, President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan, expressed confidence that interstate cooperation, based on strong bonds of friendship and mutual goodwill, will continue to strengthen dynamically and enhance further, as well as addressed their wishes for progress and prosperity to the peoples of two countries.
