On August 31, 2016 Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan met with a delegation of the State of Qatar led by the Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, who arrived on a working visit to Turkmenistan.
According to the participants of the meeting, thanks to the policy pursued by the leaders of the two countries, relations between Turkmenistan and Qatar are characterized by a high level of confidence, based on established principles of mutual respect and equal partnership. Noting the high level of political and diplomatic cooperation, the two sides expressed their commitment to further enhancing relations in the framework of international organizations. Expressing satisfaction with the current state of bilateral relations, the meeting participants noted the importance of regular contacts between the foreign ministries of the two countries.
During the talks, the sides discussed topical issues of interstate cooperation, stressing their mutual interest in further development of the established productive dialogue in trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres, as well as in establishing closer relations in the field of sports, education and science.
