On August 31, 2016 the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan had a meeting with the delegation of Japan headed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan Mr. Motome Takisawa, who arrived to Ashgabat on a working visit.
During the talks the sides noted that the meetings held on a regular basis, gave a new quality to bilateral relations between Turkmenistan and Japan. In this context, the sides discussed issues related to the implementation of the tasks coming from the bilateral documents signed during the official visit of the Prime Minister of Japan Shinzo Abe to Turkmenistan in October last year.
The sides discussed the state and prospects of bilateral cooperation in various areas, particularly in political, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation. They also discussed the possibilities of cooperation in the field of training and education.
During the negotiations the issues of further development and strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation within the framework of the Dialogue "Central Asia + Japan" have been discussed. The parties exchanged the views on regional and international issues of consolidation the efforts in the fight against common threats and challenges.
