On December 10, 2017, political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and Romania were held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan. The delegation of the Romanian side was led by the State Secretary for Relations with Eastern Neighborhood and multilateral relations at the global level of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Romania Danut Sebastian Neculaescu.
During the consultations, the sides exchanged views on topical issues on the international agenda, regional security and cooperation. Discussing the implementation of earlier agreements, the sides exchanged views on the development of a complex of bilateral relations in the political and diplomatic sphere. Expressing satisfaction with the mutual support of international initiatives in various international organizations, the sides noted the need for further development of relations in this direction. It was also noted the parties' interest in the development of inter-parliamentary relations.
The parties expressed special interest in the development of trade and economic cooperation and expansion of contacts between business circles of the two countries with an emphasis on holding the next meeting of inter-governmental commission on economic cooperation. Also, attention was paid to the development of cooperation in the field of transport. During the discussion of the relevance of the problems of ecology and environmental protection, the delegation of Romania was informed about the activities within the framework of Turkmenistan's chairmanship in IFAS.
In addition, during the talks, issues of further deepening of bilateral humanitarian ties were discussed. In particular, the parties expressed their opinion on the need to expand cooperation in the field of education and other spheres of cultural and humanitarian cooperation.
