Negotiations between the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan and the Chairman of the People's Republic of China

On March 18, 2026, during the friendly visit of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan to China, an official meeting was held between Hero Arkadag and the Chairman of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping.

Following the official photo ceremony in front of the national flags of the two countries, negotiations were held between the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and the Chairman of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping.

Chinese President Xi Jinping, having warmly welcomed the distinguished guest, expressed gratitude to the National Leader of the Turkmen people for accepting the invitation and noted that the current visit is viewed in the People's Republic of China as a vivid symbol of friendship and comprehensive cooperation between the countries.

Taking the opportunity, the President of the People's Republic of China extended warm greetings and best wishes to the President of Turkmenistan. Congratulating the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan and President Serdar Berdimuhamedov on the upcoming Nowruz holiday, President Xi Jinping noted that today marks the last day of the Chinese New Year and the coincidence of these two holidays has special meaning and significance.

Thanking for the kind words and hospitality, the National Leader of the Turkmen people noted that he views the current meeting as a sign of friendship, mutual respect and cooperation between the two countries, and took the opportunity to convey greetings from President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

Expressing confidence in the further development and strengthening of the partnership between Turkmenistan and China in the international arena, the National Leader of the Turkmen people stated that today, thanks to the consistent efforts of the parties, all the conditions for this have been created.

In turn, President Xi Jinping noted the importance of Turkmenistan's initiatives within the UN aimed at strengthening global peace and ensuring sustainable development, emphasizing that China always supports these proposals.

Mutually beneficial cooperation is an essential prerequisite for the economic and social development of both countries. Turkmenistan and China are moving together along the path of creation and partnership, achieving great results, said Hero-Arkadag, taking the opportunity to congratulate Chairman Xi Jinping and the entire Chinese people on the successful holding of the meetings of the National People's Congress and the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference, as well as on the important decisions made at these high-level political forums.

President Xi Jinping expressed gratitude for the congratulations, noting that Turkmenistan is a reliable partner of China in Central Asia, and emphasized that China highly values and supports our country's policy of permanent neutrality.

The Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan stated that Turkmenistan supports and will continue to support China's efforts to advance international initiatives within the UN. Furthermore, the National Leader of the Turkmen People emphasized the importance of China's global initiatives related to Security, Civilization, Development, and Governance.

In the fuel and energy sector, Hero-Arkadag noted the importance of joint projects to develop the Galkynyş gas field.

Alongside this, the National Leader of the Turkmen People emphasized that the alignment of Turkmenistan's "Revival of the Great Silk Road" strategy with China's "One Belt, One Road" initiative opens up new opportunities for cooperation in the transportation and logistics sector.

During the meeting, issues of cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian spheres were also discussed. The important role of science and education was emphasized.

In turn, the Chinese leader expressed interest in implementing joint programs in science, education, and other social spheres, expressing confidence that projects to open "Lu Ban workshops" and a center for traditional Chinese medicine will be implemented in Turkmenistan in the near future.

The Chinese leader confirmed his willingness to further cooperate in education, exchange experience in intellectual property, and horse breeding. Noting that Turkmenistan's agricultural products are highly environmentally friendly, President Xi Jinping expressed interest in intensifying partnerships in agriculture, particularly in the supply of high-performance equipment, the implementation of water-saving technologies, and green energy.

During the meeting, the National Leader of the Turkmen People presented President Xi Jinping with an invitation from President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to visit Turkmenistan at his convenience.

At the end of the meeting, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping expressed confidence that Turkmen-Chinese relations, dating back to the era of the ancient Silk Road, will continue to develop and strengthen across a wide range of areas for the benefit of the peoples of both countries, and exchanged best wishes.

A gift exchange ceremony followed.

On behalf of the President of Turkmenistan, Hero Arkadag presented President Xi Jinping of the People's Republic of China with a magnificent Akhal-Teke horse named Gadyrly.

President Xi Jinping gratefully accepted the wonderful gift and noted that Akhal-Teke horses are highly revered in China.
