Issues of Turkmen-Belgian cooperation discussed at the MFA of Turkmenistan
On March 30, 2026, a meeting was held between Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Myahri Byashimova and Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Belgium to Turkmenistan (with residence in Baku) Julien de Fraipont.
During the meeting, the sides considered current issues of bilateral cooperation. Particular attention was paid to the development of political and diplomatic dialogue, interaction between the foreign ministries, as well as the improvement of the legal framework of Turkmen-Belgian relations.
The sides emphasized the importance of further strengthening Turkmenistan’s partnership with European countries. In this context, the significant role of Belgium in fostering cooperation between Turkmenistan and the European Union was highlighted.
An exchange of views also took place on cooperation within international platforms, primarily within the UN.
Particular attention was given to the trade-economic agenda. The interlocutors expressed support for intensifying business contacts, organizing joint events with the participation of business circles.
In addition, prospects for cooperation in the cultural-humanitarian sphere were discussed, including the development of inter-university ties.
