New Ambassador of the Republic of Korea presented copies of his credentials

On 6 April 2026, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan between Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Turkmenistan, Lee Won-jae. During the meeting, the Ambassador presented copies of his credentials.

At the beginning of the meeting, the Turkmen side warmly congratulated the Ambassador on his appointment and wished him success in his responsible mission aimed at further strengthening friendly relations between the two countries.

It was noted that Turkmenistan attaches great importance to the development of Turkmen–Korean partnership, which is traditionally based on the principles of long-standing friendship, trust and mutual understanding. In this context, the key role of high-level visits and contacts in advancing political dialogue between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea was emphasized.

During the talks, the parties confirmed their commitment to strengthening cooperation within international formats and also highlighted the importance of intensifying interparliamentary contacts as an important element of bilateral dialogue.

In addition, the sides underlined the significant potential for expanding trade and economic cooperation and expressed interest in developing mutually beneficial ties between the business communities of the two countries.

The parties also discussed prospects for cultural and humanitarian cooperation, as well as expanding relations in the fields of education and sports.

Concluding the meeting, the Turkmen side expressed its readiness to provide full support to the Ambassador in his activities in the new post.
