Political consultations held in Seoul between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea

On April 9, 2026, political consultations were held in Seoul between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Korea.

The Turkmen side was headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Ahmet Gurbanov, while the Korean side was led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Korea Ms. Eui-hae Cecilia Chung.

During the meeting, the sides expressed satisfaction with the high level of dynamically developing interstate relations, emphasizing that contacts at the highest and high levels, as well as regular consultations between the foreign ministries serve as an important factor in advancing bilateral ties.

The interlocutors reviewed a wide range of issues related to the further development of political and diplomatic relations, expansion of inter-parliamentary cooperation, and strengthening of the legal and contractual framework.

Issues of trade-economic cooperation were discussed, including collaboration in the fields of energy, industrial construction, shipbuilding, water management, transport and infrastructure, as well as environmental protection.

Highlighting the need for coordinated efforts to expand economic cooperation, the parties noted the role of the Intergovernmental Turkmen-Korean Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technological Cooperation, as well as the Joint Turkmen-Korean Business Council.

The sides also exchanged views on current regional and international issues, confirming their commitment to continuing constructive cooperation both bilaterally and within international organizations.

Special attention was given to strengthening cooperation in the humanitarian sphere, including science, education, healthcare, culture, tourism, and sports.

Following the consultations, both sides reaffirmed their mutual interest in further developing and deepening Turkmen-Korean partnership.
