Briefing at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan gave a review of the country’s foreign policy activities since the beginning of the year

On April 28, 2026, Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held a briefing on the most significant events in Turkmenistan’s international life since the beginning of the current year.

Participants of the briefing included heads of diplomatic missions accredited in Turkmenistan, as well as heads of representative offices of international organizations in Ashgabat.

During the briefing, the Foreign Minister highlighted key aspects of the country’s international activities, carried out in accordance with the Foreign Policy Concept of Neutral Turkmenistan for the period 2022-2028.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs emphasized the special significance of the foreign visits of President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Hero Arkadag.

The Foreign Minister made special emphasis on the results of the visits of the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, Hero Arkadag, to the United States of America, the People’s Republic of China, and the Republic of Austria.

It was noted that the visit to the United States gave new push to bilateral cooperation between the two countries in trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian fields.

R. Meredov spoke about the significance of the visit of Hero Arkadag to the People’s Republic of China, during which he held constructive talks with the President Xi Jinping. The agreements of the leaders were reflected in concrete steps, including subsequent events aimed at further developing cooperation between Turkmenistan and China in the gas sector.

During the briefing, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan noted the importance of the visit of the National Leader of the Turkmen People to the Republic of Austria, during which he held meetings with the country’s highest leadership and talks with the heads of major UN agencies. He also highlighted the large-scale initiatives Hero Arkadag announced at the International Vienna Energy and Climate Forum.

It was noted that during his participation in the Regional Environmental Summit and the Summit of the Founding States of the International Fund for Saving the Aral Sea, held in the Republic of Kazakhstan, the President of Turkmenistan made a number of important statements aimed at strengthening the quality and level of international cooperation across the entire spectrum of environmental issues. Turkmenistan’s firm position on water issues in the region was reaffirmed, and specific initiatives for achieving environmental well-being were announced.

The Minister also spoke about the significance of the participation of Turkmen delegation to the World Government Summit in Dubai and the Antalya Diplomacy Forum.

The briefing emphasized Turkmenistan’s unwavering commitment to the principles of neutrality, peacefulness, good neighborliness, and mutually beneficial cooperation.

During the briefing comments were made by the ambassadors of foreign states and representatives of international organizations.
