Scientific-practical conference “Turkmenistan and International Law: Experience of Neutrality and Cooperation” was held in Ashgabat
On May 12, 2026, the International University for the Humanities and Development hosted a scientific-practical conference titled “Turkmenistan and International Law: Experience of Neutrality and Cooperation”.
The forum was attended by heads and representatives of relevant ministries and agencies of Turkmenistan, heads and staff of diplomatic missions and representative offices of international organizations accredited in Turkmenistan, prominent foreign scholars and experts in the field of international law, as well as faculty members and students.
During the conference, it was emphasized that the initiative to proclaim 2028 as the “Year of International Law”, first voiced by the President of Turkmenistan from the rostrum of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, is aimed at strengthening the legal foundations of the modern global security architecture and asserting the supremacy of the UN Charter in interstate relations.
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan M. Byashimova stated that Turkmenistan consistently advocates for strengthening the rule of international law and promoting the principles of multilateralism, peaceful dialogue, and preventive diplomacy.
In conclusion, the participants noted that the proclamation of 2028 as the Year of International Law will be a significant milestone in consolidating efforts to reinforce the legal framework of international dialogue.
