Meeting with the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea held at the MFA of Turkmenistan

On May 14, 2026, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Ahmet Gurbanov held a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Korea to Turkmenistan, Lee Won-jae.

During the meeting, the diplomats discussed the development of cooperation in the political and diplomatic sphere, including regular inter-ministerial consultations, interparliamentary contacts, as well as cooperation within international organizations, primarily the United Nations. It was noted that the two countries provide mutual support for international initiatives.

The parties particularly emphasized the key role of high-level and top-level visits and contacts in the development of Turkmen-Korean relations.

Special attention was also paid to cooperation within the multilateral “Central Asia – Republic of Korea” format.

During the meeting, the strategic and long-term nature of trade and economic cooperation was highlighted. The significant contribution of Korean companies to the implementation of major projects in the gas chemical industry, transport infrastructure, and shipbuilding was particularly emphasized.

The diplomats also underlined the importance of cultural and humanitarian cooperation. Active collaboration in the fields of education, science, sports, and the study of the Korean language in Turkmenistan was noted. It was emphasized that these contacts contribute to strengthening mutual understanding and closer ties between the peoples of the two countries.
