On January 19, 2018 in the building of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan the Minister of Foreign Affairs R. Meredov had a meeting with the delegation of the Parliament of the Republic of Korea headed by the President of the parliamentary friendship group Korea-Turkmenistan Park Dae Chul.
In the course of the meeting, the sides, noting the dynamics of successfully developing Turkmen-Korean cooperation, spoke in favor of expanding inter-parliamentary ties and further enhancing cooperation between parliamentarians of the two countries. The sides also noted joint efforts to disarm, combat the proliferation of weapons of mass destruction and the initiative to establish a zone free of nuclear weapons. Regarding cooperation in the sphere of international organizations, the parties expressed their commitment to developing cooperation in this direction.
Speaking about the dynamic development of trade and economic relations, the sides noted the important role of the Intergovernmental Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technological Cooperation in uniting joint efforts to develop mutually beneficial partnership. During the talks, the prospects of developing ties between the business circles of the two countries were discussed. There was a great interest in cooperation in the fields of energy, construction and transport.
Among the priority areas of cooperation was also the development of fruitful humanitarian contacts between the two friendly countries. Noting the great potential for cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian area, the sides noted the need to expand cooperation in this direction.
