Delegation of Turkmenistan is participating in the Bonn Conference of the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change

The delegation of Turkmenistan, headed by the Deputy Minister of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan, is taking part in the 64th session of the Subsidiary Bodies of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC SB64), taking place in Bonn (Federal Republic of Germany) from 8 to 18 June 2026.

During the forum’s sessions, the Turkmen delegation presented the country’s national standpoint on climate change matters and informed the participants about the work being carried out to fulfil commitments under the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change and the Paris Agreement.

In the statement, the Turkmen side emphasized Turkmenistan’s commitment to international efforts to resist climate change, including measures to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, improve energy efficiency, introduce environmentally friendly technologies and develop renewable energy sources. It was noted that the preparation of the updated Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC 3.0) is currently being finalized in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme.

Particular attention was paid to Turkmenistan’s regional initiatives in the climate field, including the establishment of the Regional Centre for Climate Technologies for Central Asia in Ashgabat. The delegation informed the forum participants about the advancement of preparatory work for the launch of the Centre and expressed its readiness to further develop cooperation

On the sidelines of the session, the Turkmen delegation held a series of bilateral meetings with representatives of the Convention’s Member States, as well as international and regional organizations. During the talks, matters were discussed regarding the expansion of cooperation in the field of climate policy, the introduction of modern climate technologies, the strengthening of regional cooperation and the implementation of joint projects aimed at achieving Sustainable Development Goals.

Turkmenistan’s participation in SB64 reaffirmed the country’s consistent commitment to developing international cooperation in the field of environmental protection, adapting to climate change, and promoting constructive initiatives aimed at ensuring environmental sustainability and the well-being of present and future generations.
