Telephone Conversation Between the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan, and the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan

On June 25, 2026, a telephone conversation took place between the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanuly Berdimuhamedov, and the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev.

Warmly greeting one another, the Hero-Arkadag and the head of the neighboring state noted with satisfaction the high level of interaction between the two countries at the current stage. In this context, President Ilham Aliyev highlighted the significance of the recent state visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan by President Serdar Berdimuhamedov.

The leader of the brotherly state noted that this visit became an important milestone in the history of traditionally friendly bilateral relations, expressing confidence that the agreements reached during the negotiations would provide an additional impetus to the further development of mutually beneficial cooperation.

Thanking him for the kind words, the National Leader of the Turkmen People noted that Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan, as neighboring countries, build their partnership on the principles of mutual respect. At the same time, it was noted with satisfaction that interstate relations are currently developing in a consistent manner.

Expressing gratitude for the gift of the new tanker "Dostluk" to the Turkmen people, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty expressed confidence that the operation of the vessel would have a positive impact not only on increasing productive cooperation between Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan, but also on strengthening relations with other states of the Caspian region.

During the telephone conversation, emphasis was placed on the fact that the visits of the Hero-Arkadag to the Republic of Azerbaijan and President Ilham Aliyev to Turkmenistan last year demonstrated the commitment of the two friendly states to expanding partnership. Along with this, it was noted that the recent state visit of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Azerbaijan opened a new page in the development of bilateral interaction.

As emphasized, the agreements reached following the visit laid a solid foundation for the further deepening of cooperation in the trade-economic, industrial, and transport sectors, in the field of agriculture, as well as through healthcare channels.

Furthermore, the significance of traditionally productive relations in areas such as culture, science, education, and sports was noted. At the same time, it was stated with satisfaction that the high-level organization of the Days of Turkmen Culture in the cities of Baku and Ganja, as well as the Days of Azerbaijani Culture in the cities of Ashgabat and Arkadag, serves as another testament to the common historical roots of the two peoples, which trace back to the Oghuz.

Speaking about the ongoing preparations for holding the "Ene-Tebigat" (Mother Nature) international exhibition in Turkmenistan from October 19 to November 30 of this year, which will be organized by the Heydar Aliyev Foundation and the Gurbanuly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Foundation for Helping Children in Need of Care, the National Leader of the Turkmen People noted that this event will promote the strengthening of cooperation between the two Foundations.

An exchange of views on priority issues of bilateral relations also took place.

The Hero-Arkadag wished the friendly people of Azerbaijan well-being and prosperity. In turn, the head of the neighboring country addressed his best wishes to the brotherly people of Turkmenistan.
