On February 1-2, 2017, the delegation of Turkmenistan headed by the Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan B. Myatiev visited Zagreb to participate in the Turkmen-Croatian political consultations.
During the visit, the Turkmen delegation was received by the Secretary of State of the Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs of the Republic of Croatia, Ms. Zdravko Busic.
During Turkmen-Croatian political consulates, the sides discussed issues of bilateral cooperation in the political-diplomatic, trade-economic and cultural-humanitarian spheres. There was also an exchange of views on topical issues of the international agenda, of regional security and cooperation. Issues of cooperation within the framework of international organizations were discussed in this context. A separate topic of discussion was the issue of intensification of relations within the framework of the EU-Turkmenistan format.
Speaking about the commitment of the parties to the expansion of mutually beneficial friendly relations, the participants emphasized the role of high-level visits, which act as a solid foundation for the comprehensive and consistent development of bilateral ties. The parties also discussed the possibility of establishing and developing the Turkmen-Croatian inter-parliamentary dialogue.
The sides expressed particular interest in developing trade and economic cooperation and expanding contacts between business circles of the two countries. In this regard, the importance of the joint intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation was stressed.
Discussing the humanitarian block, the sides noted their commitment to the development of cooperation in the sphere of culture, tourism and sports. The issue of the possibility of holding Days of Culture of the Republic of Croatia in Turkmenistan was discussed.
Also, within the framework of the visit to Zagreb, the delegation of Turkmenistan had a meeting in the Sabor (Parliament) of the Republic of Croatia.
