Meeting of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan with the Deputy Secretary General of the CIS

On September 7, 2026, a meeting was held in the National Tourist Zone “Avaza” between the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Serdar Muhammetdurdyyev and the Deputy Secretary General of the Commonwealth of Independent States Denis Trefilov.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on current issues of cooperation between Turkmenistan and the Commonwealth of Independent States.

Particular attention was paid to the preparation for the upcoming events to be held within the framework of the chairmanship of Turkmenistan in the CIS in 2026, planned to take place in October of current year in the National Tourist Zone “Avaza”. The sides discussed organizational aspects and collaboration in view of preparations to these events.

Other matters of mutual interest on the agenda were also discussed.

Upon the outcomes of the meeting, the next day. the signing ceremony of the Protocol on the Coordination of Preparation Matters for the Meetings of the Council of Ministers of Foreign Affairs and the Council of Heads of State of the Commonwealth of Independent States, which will be held on 7 and 9 October 2026 in the National Tourist Zone “Avaza” was held at the MFA of Turkmenistan. The document is aimed at ensuring the coordinated preparation of the organizational and content aspects of the upcoming meetings to be held within the framework of Turkmenistan’s chairmanship in the CIS in 2026.
