Meeting of the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan with the State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan

On 11 September 2026, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov held a meeting with the State Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan.Kenji Yamada.

During the meeting, the sides discussed the current state and favorable areas of development of Turkmen-Japanese cooperation, with particular emphasis on trade and economic relations.

Noting the sustainable state of cooperation between the two countries, the sides emphasized the significant potential for further expanding mutually beneficial partnership. In this context, particular attention was paid to enhancing business contacts, implementing joint projects, and attracting advanced Japanese technologies and expertise to various sectors of the economy of Turkmenistan.

An exchange of views was held on prospects for cooperation in the energy, industrial, transport, chemical and other areas of mutual interest. Particular emphasis was placed on the interest in further developing cooperation in the introduction of modern technologies, digitalization and circular economy.

The sides also emphasized the important role of the Turkmen-Japanese and Japanese-Turkmen Committees on Economic Cooperation as an effective mechanism for promoting bilateral trade and economic relations.

At the conclusion of the meeting, the sides reaffirmed their readiness to continue constructive dialogue and make joint efforts to further strengthen the Turkmen-Japanese partnership.
