Meeting of the Heads of Foreign Ministries of Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation

On October 7, 2026, on the sidelines of the events held within the framework of Turkmenistan’s Chairmanship of the Commonwealth of Independent States in 2026, a meeting was held in the National Tourist Zone “Avaza” between Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov and Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov.

During the meeting, the sides exchanged views on current issues of Turkmen-Russian cooperation, as well as promising areas for further interaction.

The heads of the foreign ministries emphasized the importance of regular political and diplomatic dialogue and contacts that contribute to further strengthening friendly and constructive relations between the two countries.

An exchange of views also took place on certain issues of the regional and international agenda of mutual interest.

Following the meeting, the sides reaffirmed their interest in further developing bilateral interaction and strengthening cooperation within multilateral formats.

Within the framework of the meeting, the Cooperation Programme between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation for 2027–2028 was signed. The document provides for further development of interaction between the foreign ministries of the two countries.
