Telephone Conversation between the President of Turkmenistan and the President of the Russian Federation

On 7 October 2026, a telephone conversation took place between the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin.

The Head of Turkmenistan sincerely congratulated President Vladimir Putin on his birthday and wished him strong health, happiness and well-being, as well as great success in his state activities for the benefit of the people of Russia. The President of Turkmenistan expressed sincere gratitude to the President of the Russian Federation for his personal attention and comprehensive support for the development of Turkmen-Russian relations.

In turn, the President of the Russian Federation expressed his gratitude for the congratulations and noted that relations between the two countries are based on the principles of equality, mutual respect and good-neighbourliness. Vladimir Putin also highlighted the significant contribution of the President of Turkmenistan to strengthening interstate dialogue and, taking the opportunity, conveyed warm greetings and best wishes to the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.

During the telephone conversation, it was noted that the development of strategic cooperation with the Russian Federation remains one of the key directions of Turkmenistan’s foreign policy.

Over the years of cooperation, the two countries have accumulated extensive experience across various areas and achieved significant results.

Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation closely cooperate across a broad range of areas, primarily in the political and diplomatic, trade and economic, and cultural and humanitarian spheres.

In addition, Turkmenistan and the Russian Federation successfully interact within international organizations, including the United Nations and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). In this regard, the Head of Turkmenistan noted that tomorrow’s meeting with Vladimir Putin in the National Tourist Zone “Avaza” would provide an opportunity to exchange views on important issues of the bilateral agenda.

President Serdar Berdimuhamedov also emphasized that the leaders of the two countries would participate in the meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the CIS and the Caspian Environmental Summit, expressing confidence that the upcoming meetings would further strengthen effective dialogue within the CIS framework and make a significant contribution to ensuring environmental stability in the Caspian region.

At the conclusion of the telephone conversation, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin wished each other strong health and further success in their activities, as well as prosperity and well-being to the friendly peoples of the two countries.
