On February 28 - March 1, 2018, the delegation of Turkmenistan visited the city of Lausanne, Switzerland, during which meetings were held with the leadership of the International University Sports Federation (FISU).
The composition of the Turkmen delegation included the Minister of sport and youth policy of Turkmenistan D.Gulgeldiew, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan B.Myatiev, Secretary General of the National Olympic Committee of Turkmenistan A.Myradov and Permanent representative of Turkmenistan to the UN Office in Geneva A.Khaljanov.
During the negotiations, FISU President O.Matytsin and FISU Secretary General E.Saintrond expressed gratitude to the Turkmen side for organizing their visit to Ashgabat in January 2018 and holding meetings with the leadership of relevant ministries and departments of Turkmenistan.
The sides highly appreciated the attention paid by the President of Turkmenistan to the development of sports, the evidence of which was the holding of the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games in 2017. Turkmenistan has a high potential in the further development of sports, including the issue of holding next international games in the country. In this regard, the leadership of FISU, expressed its readiness to further strengthen cooperation with Turkmenistan on the issue of joint holding large-scale sports events.
In turn, it was noted that the Turkmen side has the necessary infrastructure for holding sports events in the country, as well as relevant experience. An agreement was reached to continue contacts, including regular meetings and consultations in Ashgabat.
