On March 1, 2018, negotiations were held in Ashgabat with the delegation of the Islamic Republic of Iran headed by the Minister of Industry, Mines and Trade of the Islamic Republic of Iran Mr. Mohammad Shariatmadari, who arrived in Ashgabat on a working visit to attend the specialized exhibition of goods of the Islamic Republic of Iran.
Speaking about the high level of political cooperation, the parties noted the role of visits at high levels. It was emphasized that regular meetings and negotiations between the delegations of the two countries at different levels demonstrate the parties ' desire to develop traditionally friendly relations between the two countries on a strategic basis. In this context, the sides discussed the preparations for the forthcoming official visit of the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran to Turkmenistan.
During the talks, the sides exchanged views on the current state and prospects of the relations between the two countries, as well as examined the possibilities for expanding bilateral trade and economic cooperation and intensifying cooperation in the energy sector. In this context, the parties noted the need for active implementation of the agreements reached earlier.
The participants of the meeting also discussed the possibility of involving Iranian companies and business circles in various projects implemented in Turkmenistan. Including, it was a question of introduction of new Iranian technological developments to the Turkmen market and activation of cooperation in this sphere.
