On March 1-2, 2018, the 14th meeting of the joint Turkmen-Uzbek commission for trade- economic, scientific-technical and cultural cooperation was held in Tashkent. To participate in the work of the commission, the delegation of Turkmenistan headed by the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers B.Annameredov arrived to the Republic of Uzbekistan. Heads and representatives of the ministries and departments of Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan took part in the meeting.
During the meeting the sides exchanged views on the current state and prospects for expanding bilateral trade and economic cooperation within the framework of the agreement between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan on cooperation in the sphere of economy for 2018-2020.
The sides noted with satisfaction the development of bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation in the field of transit and transport. The importance of practical implementation of the agreements on the development of the transport corridor Uzbekistan-Turkmenistan-Iran-Oman was especially noted. High appreciation was also given to the opening of Turkmenabat-Farap highway and railway bridges, as their use will contribute to increasing the transit potential of the two countries and create favorable conditions for increasing the volume of transported goods through the Transcaucasian transport corridor.
Observing the historical responsibility for the preservation and strengthening of the centuries-old friendship, brotherhood and cooperation between the two peoples, Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan reaffirmed their commitment to deepening and strengthening bilateral cooperation in the spheres of culture, science, art, sports and other fields.
Also, within the framework of the commission's work, bilateral meetings between heads of the ministries and departments of the two states were held.
Following the results of the 14th meeting of the joint Turkmen-Uzbek commission on trade-economic, scientific-technical and cultural cooperation, the Protocol was signed.
In the afternoon, the delegation of Turkmenistan was received by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
During the meeting, the sides discussed issues of expanding cooperation in the political-diplomatic, energy and transport spheres, developing relations in the trade-economic area and strengthening cooperation in the cultural-humanitarian area, in particular, in education, sports and tourism. In addition, an exchange of views took place on the possibilities of establishing direct contacts between the business structures of the two countries through the organization of joint events.
Within the framework of the working visit, the Turkmen delegation was received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov.
During the meeting, issues of further development and strengthening of relations between Turkmenistan and the Republic of Uzbekistan were considered. Particular attention was paid to the issues of bilateral cooperation within the framework of international organizations and structures.
In the course of the talks, the sides exchanged views on a number of key issues of regional and international policy, which are of mutual interest. In addition, in order to ensure bilateral mutually beneficial cooperation, the need for strengthening the legal base was stressed.
During the visit, the delegation of Turkmenistan laid flowers to the monument of the first President of Uzbekistan.
In addition, the delegation visited the Tashkent plant of agricultural machinery and the Tashkent plant for the repair of railway passenger cars.
