On March 15, 2018 the forum "Turkmenistan is a powerful transit-transport center on the Great Silk Road" was held in the assembly hall of the Chinese Petroleum University in Beijing. The event was organized at the initiative of the Embassy of Turkmenistan in China with the support of the leadership of the China Petroleum University and the Department of International Cooperation of the Chinese oil and gas company “Petrochina”.
The discussion platform of the forum united representatives of the transport industry of the Chinese capital, representatives of the leading Chinese media, the faculty of the Chinese Petroleum University, foreign and Turkmen students studying at this university.
The forum provided broad information on large-scale transport reforms being carried out in the country under the leadership of President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the implementation of mutually beneficial transport projects related to the revival of the Great Silk Road.
In her speech, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the People’s Republic of China drew attention to the high transit and transport potential of Turkmenistan, which today is an important connecting node of regional and continental importance. She noted that Turkmenistan has an important geopolitical role, possessing significant energy and natural resource potential, unique transport and communication capabilities, and large-scale projects implemented in the country have a positive impact on the stability of the entire Eurasian continent.
At the forum, the Vice-Rector of the University Dong Chaosyu spoke in a welcoming speech, which highly characterized the importance of the formation of the extensive infrastructure of Turkmenistan's transport communications.
Also during the forum were the speeches of the secretary of the party committee of the University, Ms. Shan Hundong, the head of the department of international cooperation of the oil and gas company “Petrochina” Dan Minmin, the graduate of the Chinese Petroleum University, the doctoral candidate of the university Rakhman Bayramdurdyyev, who noted that the basic modernization of the entire economy, initiated by the head of the Turkmen state, including transport infrastructure, is a key factor in accelerating the integration process and developing trade and production among the countries along the Silk Road.
Within the framework of the forum, a video film was shown to the participants highlighting the implementation of large-scale reform programs affecting all spheres of the life of the Turkmen state and society.
