On April 16, 2018, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan there was a meeting with the delegation of Romania headed by the Minister of Business Environment, Trade and Entrepreneurship of Romania Stefan Radu Oprea, who arrived in Ashgabat on a working visit.
During the talks, the sides exchanged views on the current state and prospects for expanding bilateral trade and economic cooperation. The sides discussed the possibilities of boosting joint trade turnover and the need to increase exports and imports between the two countries. In this context, the parties emphasized the role of transport corridors. Noting the developed logistics infrastructure of the two countries, the parties discussed the possibilities of the International Seaport in Turkmenbashi in providing multimodal transportation.
The parties reviewed the activities of the Romanian companies in Turkmenistan and expressed interest in creating joint economic projects.
In addition, in the areas of further development of cooperation, the parties noted the spheres of energy and oil technologies. Discussing the role of humanitarian ties in strengthening mutual understanding between the countries, the parties noted good relations in the field of education.
