On April 20, 2018, the Turkmen Embassy in Ukraine hosted sports competitions among the Turkmen students studying in the universities of Kiev, as part of the mass sports events held in Turkmenistan on the occasion of World Health Day. Turkmen students took part in competitions from more than 10 universities of Kiev.
Before the start of the competition, there was a solemn ceremony of awarding winners and participants of the football tournament among the Turkmen students of Kiev universities which was held the day before. The Embassy together with the guest of honor of the event, the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Nikolai Movchan, presented the Cup for the 1st place to the winner, and all the players of the teams that won prizes awarded statuettes, diplomas and memorable gifts.
The Deputy Minister congratulated students and all the Turkmen people on World Health Day, highly appreciating the rapid progress in physical culture and sport in Turkmenistan, the state's concern for the physical and spiritual health of the nation, holding the Asian Games at the highest level in September last year and wished the youth a happy healthy future and sports successes.
Students competed in table tennis tournaments, lifting weights, chess and drafts. Prize-winning places were shared among students of the National Transport University, the National University of Physical Education and Sports of Ukraine, the National Pedagogical University named after M.P.Dragomanov, the Kiev National Taras Shevchenko University and the Kiev National Linguistic University. As a result of the competition, the winners were also awarded with diplomas, decorations and souvenirs.
Participants of the sports events expressed deep gratitude to the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov for wise initiatives aimed at providing a healthy and happy nation, for the care they feel not only at home but also abroad.
