On April 30, 2018, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan there was a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Ismatulla Nasredin, who arrived in the Turkmen capital to participate in the High-Level Meeting "Towards a comprehensive implementation of the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy in Central Asia".
During the meeting, noting the fruitful nature of bilateral relations, the sides discussed issues of bilateral and regional cooperation. Among the priority areas of cooperation were discussed issues of interaction within the framework of international organizations, primarily in the United Nations.
Discussing the issues of trade-economic cooperation, the sides noted the need to increase the volume of trade turnover and export-import operations between the two countries.
In addition, the challenges and threats to regional security and stability, as well as joint efforts in the fight against international terrorism, illicit drug trafficking and the issues of assistance to neighboring Afghanistan have been discussed.
