On April 30, 2018 in Ashgabat, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan R.Meredov had a meeting with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Kyrgyzstan Aibek Omokeev, who arrived in Turkmenistan to participate in the High-level Meeting on "Towards a comprehensive implementation of the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy in Central Asia".
During the meeting, noting the stable nature of bilateral relations, the sides discussed issues of bilateral and regional cooperation. Among the priority areas of cooperation, issues of interaction within the framework of international organizations were discussed. The participants of the meeting expressed their proposals on the implementation of the UN Global Counter-Terrorism Strategy in the region at the expert level, holding inter-ministerial consultations on this issue, organizing consultative meetings.
In addition, the parties discussed issues related to the problems of the Aral Sea.
Speaking about trade and economic cooperation, the sides exchanged views on the possibility of activating joint contacts for further expansion of trade.
At the end of the meeting, the sides noted the need to bring bilateral ties to a higher level, which meets the long-term interests of the two states.
