On November 15, 2016, the official opening of the Embassy of the State of Palestine in Turkmenistan was held in Ashgabat. The Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the two countries attended the opening ceremony. The opening ceremony of the diplomatic mission of Palestine was held within the framework of the official visit of the President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas to Turkmenistan.
As was noted at the ceremony that the current event and bilateral documents signed after the talks at the highest level, testified about the mutual commitment of the two countries to expand mutually beneficial cooperation on a long term basis.
On 14 November, during the negotiations with the President of the State of Palestine Mahmoud Abbas, President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov assured his Palestinian counterpart that the Turkmen side will create all necessary conditions for the proper functioning of the diplomatic mission of the brotherly country.
