On June 11, 2018, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan there was a meeting with the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Zambia in Turkmenistan (with residence in Moscow) Mr. Shadrek C. Luwita, who arrived in Ashgabat on a working visit.
Presenting copies of his credentials to the representative of the Turkmen side, Ambassador Luwita expressed his full readiness to make the necessary efforts to bring the bilateral relations to a new level of cooperation. Noting the focus on fruitful and effective interaction, the Turkmen side noted the importance of organizing visits, as well as meetings at various levels. Speaking about political cooperation, the sides noted the necessity of organizing inter-ministerial consultations between Turkmenistan and Zambia.
Then the parties considered the prospects for cooperation in various fields. Proposals were made on the development of trade and economic relations through the organization of business meetings and exhibitions of export goods. It was also voiced mutual interest in developing cooperation in the oil and gas fields. In addition, the sides noted the special interest in developing cooperation in the field of agriculture, in particular the cotton industry.
Discussing the cultural and humanitarian block of cooperation, the Turkmen side expressed its proposal to consider the possibility of organizing Days of Culture of the two countries.
