On June 22, 2018, the delegation of Turkmenistan headed by the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan V. Hajiyev held a meeting with the Secretary General of the World Customs Organization Mr. Kunio Mukuria in Brussels.
Prospective directions of the international customs cooperation of the Organization were discussed at the meeting. In particular, paying attention to the importance of the newly opened International Port in Turkmenbashi, it was proudly emphasized that Turkmenistan, with its modern infrastructure, is becoming an important part of trade and transport and logistics systems at the regional and international levels.
The sides noted the importance of continuing efforts to intensify cooperation in such areas as organization of joint seminars at the level of managers and specialists of customs services, strengthening of national and international legal systems related to customs work, analysis of existing legislative documents and development of new ones in this direction, exchange of experience on international customs programs and training activities, development and implementation of international automated customs systems, professional development training of employees of the State Customs Service of Turkmenistan.
During the meeting, the Turkmen side wished successes in the elections to the post of Secretary General of the World Customs Organization, which will be held next week, to Mr. Kunio Mukuria, whose candidature was once again proposed by the Government of Japan.
