On November 24, 2016, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan there was the meeting with the new Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Austrian Republic in Turkmenistan (with residence in Astana) Mr. Gerhard Sailler, who arrived on a working visit to the Turkmen capital.
During the talks held after the ceremony of presenting by the Ambassador of the copies of his credentials, the sides discussed the state and prospects of development of cooperation between Turkmenistan and Austria. In this context the sides noted the role of visits at the highest levels. The sides discussed issues of strengthening cooperation in the fields of politics, economy and culture. Among the priority areas of cooperation the parties highlighted the issues of cooperation within international organizations, primarily the UN, EU and OSCE.
Also during the meeting the sides discussed various possibilities of expanding cooperation in the fields of science and education. In this context, the parties discussed the opportunities of realization of joint projects. Speaking about the high level of cultural relations, the sides noted the role of the Austrian-Turkmen friendship society.
