On July 18, 2018 in the afternoon, Deputy Foreign Minister of Turkmenistan S. Berdimuhamedov made a presentation at the general debate of the Ministerial segment of the High-Level Political Forum on Sustainable Development.
In his speech, he noted the effective integration of SDGs and associated tasks into national development strategies of Turkmenistan, taking into account local peculiarities and priorities.
He also took part in the event entitled "Improving Sustainability by Achieving the SDG: New Ways of Working in Central Asia", organized by UNDP, the European Union and the Permanent Mission of Slovakia to the United Nations.
In his speech, S. Berdimuhamedov spoke about the implementation of the SDGs in the country and stressed that their implementation is the priority direction of the country's national strategy.
A meeting was also held between the members of the delegation of Turkmenistan and the Minister for Climate Change, Communications and Energy of Ireland, D. Noyten.
The two sides exchanged experience on the implementation of SDGs in the countries. The Turkmen delegation informed about the adoption of various national plans in the field of planting the trees in the cities and towns, measures to save the Aral Sea, the adoption in April 2018 of the resolution "Cooperation between the UN and IFAS".
They also noted that in August 2018 a summit of IFAS member states and interested parties on this issue is planned to be held in Turkmenistan.
