On September 24, 2018, there was a meeting at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan with the Ambassador of the Republic of Finland in Turkmenistan (with residence in Helsinki), Ms. Marja Elina Liivala, who arrived in Ashgabat to present her credentials.
At the beginning of the meeting while congratulating the Ambassador on her appointment to a responsible post, Turkmen side expressed its commitment to strengthen bilateral relations and noted the positive experience of cooperation in political, trade-economic and humanitarian spheres. The sides exchanged views on the current state of relations, noted the need to further strengthen the Turkmen-Finnish partnership and agreed to intensify cooperation in the fields of trade and education. Turkmen side proposed to hold bilateral consultations between the two foreign ministries in 2019 in Ashgabat. Both sides discussed the possibilities of exchanging the business delegations for further intensification of bilateral trade and economic cooperation, as well as the issues related to organizing business forum in Helsinki with the expanded participation of representatives from the Union of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs of Turkmenistan.
Speaking about activities in the international arena, the sides noted the initiatives of Turkmenistan to further ensure peace, security and sustainable development in the region and the world. In this context, the sides paid attention to the issues of interaction within the framework of Europian Union.
During the meeting, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Finland in Turkmenistan, Ms. Marja Elina Liivala presented the copies of her credentials.
