On May 16, 2024, the Consulate General of Turkmenistan in Mazar-i-Sharif organized a cultural event dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of Magtymguly Fragi in the Andkhoy district of Faryab province of Afghanistan.
The event was attended by leaders of a number of districts of Faryab province, representatives of diplomatic missions in Mazar-i-Sharif, Makhtumkuliv scholars and youth of the Turkmen and Uzbek diasporas, creative figures, and media representatives.
Consul General of Turkmenistan in Mazar-i-Sharif B. Kabaev, in his speech, mentioned the international and state level events being held in 2024 on the occasion of the 300th anniversary of Magtymguly Fragi, the great thinker and classical poet of the East.
The speakers noted that cultural and humanitarian ties between Turkmenistan and Afghanistan are regularly and effectively developing. It was emphasized that the literary heritage of the classic of Turkmen literature Magtymguly Fragi, his works glorifying peace, patriotism, unity, friendship and brotherhood, contribute to strengthening cooperation between peoples.
As part of the cultural event, an exhibition of national clothing, jewelry and works of decorative and applied art of the Turkmen people was launched, and the poems of Magtymguly Fragi were performed by students of the Educational Center named after Magtymguly in the Andkhoy district.
