On 30 May 2024, the Permanent Representative of Turkmenistan to UN Office in Geneva Vepa Hajiyev had a meeting with the Permanent Observer of the University for Peace to UNOG, Ambassador David Fernandez Puyana.
During the meeting, the parties discussed issues of establishing cooperation between the Peace University and the Turkmen side, and also considered existing opportunities for interaction in terms of implementing the initiatives previously put forward by the President of Turkmenistan on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly to develop a Global Security Strategy and establish the Institute of Neutrality and Security in Ashgabat.
Due to the specific nature of the aforementioned university, special attention was paid to possible interaction on issues of promoting a policy of neutrality, which is proving its relevance in the current unstable international environment.
In this context, the possibilities of holding joint thematic events at the Geneva venue were considered, and an agreement was reached to hold further negotiations in Ashgabat.
