These events were dedicated to the proclamation of 2026 as the year of "Independent, permanently neutral Turkmenistan - the homeland of purposeful heavenly horses" as a result of the tireless efforts of the President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov to preserve and enrich the national heritage of the Turkmen people.
During the conference held at the Turkmen Literature Center, members of the Galkynysh National Equestrian Games Group were introduced to a book exhibition dedicated to the life and work of the great Turkmen thinker and poet Magtymguly Fragi, as well as to the research being conducted to study and popularize Turkmen literature. The Center's leading researchers, Ismikhan Osmanly and Tokhfe Talibova, told the guests that they teach Azerbaijani youth about Akhal-Teke horses, celebrated in Turkmen literature and considered one of the national treasures of the Turkmen people. Within the framework of this work, it was particularly noted that the literary works of the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov about Akhal-Teke horses, such as "Horse – a Symbol of Faithfulness and Happiness", "The Akhal-Teke Horse - Our Pride and Glory", "Swift Step of a Race Horse", and "Winged Horses", are of great interest to Azerbaijani readers.
During the meeting, held at the Republican Specialized Olympic Sports School of Equestrian Sports for Children and Youth, members of the Galkynysh team learned about the school's history, its educational activities, its facilities, and the achievements of Azerbaijani athletes. The parties also discussed opportunities for cooperation in training jockeys, coaches, and equestrian specialists, as well as joint master classes, training sessions, and scientific and practical events.
The meeting emphasized that combining the experience of the traditional Turkmen riding school with modern teaching methods will contribute to the further development of equestrian sports and strengthen cooperation between the two countries.
It was also emphasized that such visits contribute to the further strengthening of friendly relations between the two countries, the development of cultural exchange, and the popularization of national traditions, including the unique art of equestrian sports.
