Working visit of the Rector of the Yagshygeldi Kakaev International Oil and Gas University to the People's Republic of China
From May 13 to 15, 2026, B. Atamanov, Rector of the Yagshygeldi Kakaev International Oil and Gas University, paid a working visit to the People's Republic of China.
The main purpose of the trip was to participate in the symposium titled “Studying and Implementing the Important Reply Letter of President Xi Jinping of the People's Republic of China to Central Asian Students Studying at the China University of Petroleum, and the High-Quality Development of Higher Education in the Energy Sector within the Framework of the 'Belt and Road' Initiative”. The forum was organized by the China University of Petroleum (Beijing).
On the first day of the visit, the Turkmen delegation took part in the plenary session of the symposium. The head of the delegation delivered a report titled "Turkmenistan and China: Implementing Innovative Technologies into the Production of the Oil and Gas Sector within the Framework of Strategic Partnership in Science and Education." During the presentation, the audience was briefed on the outcomes of the high-level International Scientific and Practical Conference "Turkmenistan – People's Republic of China: 20 Years of Strategic Partnership in the Gas Sector" recently held in Ashgabat. Special emphasis was placed on the successful operation of the joint project - the "Lu Ban Workshop," established on the basis of the Yagshygeldi Kakaev International Oil and Gas University.
In continuation of the visit program, members of the Turkmen delegation attended the grand opening ceremony of a cultural festival. On the sidelines of the event, Turkmen students studying at this Chinese university delivered a vibrant performance of the national dance "Kushtdepdi".
The second day of the visit was dedicated to familiarizing with the material, technical, educational, and research facilities of the geological and chemical laboratories at the China University of Petroleum. The attention of the Turkmen specialists was drawn to advanced processes of integration and practical utilization of artificial intelligence (AI) technologies in the educational process of the chemistry laboratory.
On the final day of the working visit, a business meeting was held at the corporate headquarters of Lenovo between Rector B. Atamanov and the leadership of Xi'an Shiyou University and Hebei Petroleum Vocational and Technical University.
The negotiations focused on the issues of further technological equipment procurement for the "Lu Ban Workshop" in Turkmenistan. The Chinese side presented a detailed action plan being implemented within the framework of the 3rd phase of the workshop's modernization. During a constructive exchange of views, the Turkmen side emphasized the importance of accelerating the pace of the center's educational and research activities and called on the partners to transition to active practical actions to ensure its full functionality.
