Speech by President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov at the Turkmen-Georgian Business Forum (Tbilisi, July 16, 2026)
Dear Mr. Prime Minister!
Dear forum participants!
This forum aims to promote the development of bilateral trade, economic, and investment cooperation.
Regarding Turkmenistan's economic development, I would like to note that in early 2026, our country approved an Investment Program, the main goal of which is to maintain gross domestic product growth at 6.3 percent.
With regard to industries, further development of the fuel and energy sector is a key focus.
Turkmenistan has begun the fourth stage of commercial development of the Galkynysh gas field, one of the largest in the world.
Development of the hydrocarbon resources of the Caspian Sea also remains a key priority. In this regard, we are consistently developing strategic partnerships with foreign oil and gas companies.
New hydrocarbon processing facilities have been commissioned. Finished liquid petroleum products are currently being exported consistently to countries in Asia and Europe.
Having built plants producing mineral fertilizers, polymers, and other chemical products in demand on global markets, Turkmenistan has achieved intensive industrial growth in the gas chemical industry.
The private sector is also developing effectively in our country. In recent years, large-scale production of construction, metal, plastic, cable, and electrical products has been established.
The volume of finished textile products manufactured in Turkmenistan exceeds 130,000 tons per year. Approximately 80 percent of the total textile production is exported.
The agricultural sector, thanks to investment and private sector development, is also increasing its export potential. Turkmenistan has now become a major supplier of organic food products.
Dear forum participants!
There are significant opportunities in the development of transportation, logistics, communications, infrastructure and the use of sea terminals.
Private entrepreneurship should be involved in the development of related infrastructure systems and the use of special opportunities for the transit of goods and services.
We are negotiating the creation of a cargo terminal for Turkmenistan on the Georgian Black Sea coast. I believe the business communities of both countries should actively participate in the implementation of this project, putting public-private partnerships into practice.
Turkmenistan is interested in Georgia's experience in developing tourism and services.
We view this forum as the beginning of a consistent, thoughtful, and concrete dialogue between entrepreneurs from our countries. We expect that similar events will be held regularly in Turkmenistan and Georgia.
Dear forum participants!
I wish you productive interaction and the exchange of useful ideas and experiences!
